What is heckle and jeckle?

Heckle and Jeckle are a pair of animated cartoon characters created by Paul Terry, originally produced by his studio Terrytoons for 20th Century Fox. They made their debut in a short film titled "The Talking Magpies" in 1946.

Heckle is a black magpie with a Brooklyn accent and a cheeky attitude, while Jeckle is a white magpie with a British accent and a more refined demeanor. The two magpies are known for their mischievous and often antagonistic behavior towards other characters, particularly a bulldog named Dimwit.

Heckle and Jeckle appeared in numerous animated shorts, comic books, and various other media throughout the years. They were popular characters during the Golden Age of Animation and are considered classic examples of the wise-cracking, trouble-making duo archetype in cartoons.
